Qatar Staff Tracker

Built to run daily attendance, tailor piece-work, salary closing and Qatar WPS compliance from one workspace — replacing scattered spreadsheets and hand-built bank files.

Expiry Alerts — QID, visa and health-card renewals flagged by urgency, before they lapse

The Challenge

Compliance was running on memory and spreadsheets.

A Qatar tailoring business was tracking staff attendance on paper and in chat, working out piece-work and salary by hand in spreadsheets, and rebuilding the WPS SIF bank file from scratch at the end of every month. Document renewals — QID, visa, health card — lived in someone's head.

Each of those steps was a place for the same number to be entered twice and disagree. A mis-keyed salary line, a slip paid without a record, or a document that lapsed unnoticed didn't just cost time — in Qatar it risks a real compliance penalty.

What the operation needed wasn't another tracker. It needed one Qatar-ready workspace where attendance flows into salary, salary closes into the SIF file, and every expiring document surfaces well before it becomes a problem.

The Workflow

One path, from clock-in to compliance.

Attendance, piece-work and salary all close into a single, bank-ready file.

Core Modules

Six connected surfaces, one workspace.

Daily Attendance & SIF

Mark attendance once a day; the monthly salary and the WPS SIF file close on their own.

Tailor Piece Work

Master-issued slips tie every suit, alteration and order to the right tailor and rate.

Employees

Every staff member with role, documents and status held in one clear profile.

Expiry Alerts

QID, visa and health-card expiries flagged by urgency, weeks before they lapse.

Reports

Archived monthly compliance snapshots, exportable as a bilingual PDF.

Imports

Bulk staff onboarding from a validated XLSX or CSV template — checked before it writes.

Inside the Product

A few screens, and why they matter.

Daily attendance and SIF
01 — Attendance & SIF

Salary closes itself from attendance.

Mark each person present once, attach any leave certificate, and the monthly total and the WPS SIF bank file are already done — no second payroll screen, no re-keying the same numbers.

02 — Piece Work

Every payment traces to one slip.

A master issues a single slip per tailor; work returns against it and the week closes from real slips — so piece-work pay is auditable end to end instead of estimated at the deadline.

Nothing is trusted until it validates.

Bulk onboarding runs through a strict template check first, so a messy spreadsheet can't quietly corrupt the records the salary and compliance files all depend on.

My Role

End to end, concept to working product.

Product Strategy Framing a Qatar operator's payroll and compliance problem
Workflow Design Turning attendance, piece-work and salary into one closing flow
UX / UI Designing every screen, from the control center to the SIF file
Data Structure Modelling staff, documents, slips and salary as one dataset
AI-assisted Development Building the working product in Next.js, React and Supabase
Operational Value

What actually changed day to day.

No duplicate payroll entry

Attendance flows straight into salary and the SIF file, so the same numbers are never keyed twice.

Fewer compliance surprises

Document expiries surface weeks ahead by urgency, instead of being noticed after they lapse.

One clear slip trail

Every tailor payment traces back to an issued master slip, so piece-work pay holds up to review.

Faster monthly close

Salary and WPS files close from daily data, replacing a stressful month-end rebuild.

Reflection

Qatar Staff Tracker exists because compliance work quietly punishes the small things — a lapsed QID, a mis-keyed salary line, a WPS file rebuilt under deadline — and none of it should depend on someone remembering.

Building it end to end showed how much safer an operation feels once the boring, repeatable work closes itself. The hardest part wasn't any single screen; it was making attendance, leave, piece-work and salary agree on one number, so the SIF file could be trusted without a manual check.

From here it grows toward multi-branch rosters, deeper Arabic throughout, and renewal reminders that reach staff directly before a document ever expires.
